ACCA exams are challenging. The Ethos of PAT is to recognise this aspect of human nature. Emer kept us focused and motivated, delivering revision plans and extra classes when our exams were moved from June to Sept due to lockdown. I was most impressed by her delivery of virtual classes — moving slowly through worked examples and repeating key ideas she sensed were challenging for us — a difficult task given she could not read the confusion in the room! His results he gets speak for themselves compared to the global average His exam focused questions and techniques do really prepare you for the exam. He is there for you day or night to answer queries. Since day one Stephen was focusing on the exam and what we would need to do to pass it which is very useful too.
I think he is a great teacher, very committed and he was very good transfering his knowledge to us, which is not easy on an online class. Stephen was all about making things easier for us and all his techniques really worked. Apart from all the classes he gave us a lot of extra material, videos explaining the most difficult topics, exam questions, mock exams, reviews… It is not easy to find someone who takes teaching that seriously and works that hard to help his students.
This was proclaimed passionately at least once per class by the inimitable Gerry Fahy. You cannot and must not underestimate the power of a positive attitude when tackling the ACCA exams. Even though all classes took place online, it often felt like you were actually in the classroom such was the level of engagement with the home audience. Real life examples from industry were used to bring life and colour to the course along with a good dose of humour! I found myself actually looking forward to class — they were a little ray of light and a chance to connect with your peers in the gloomy winter evenings of lockdown. We also started tackling mock exams early in the course, which in my mind was the absolute best thing.
There is definitely nothing better than practicing questions under timed exam conditions. To anyone thinking of studying ACCA, stop thinking, go for it, sign up today. From the beginning, Stephen was very encouraging to the students, engaging in suggestions of how to study and pass the exam. There is no question that he gave his students the confidence and belief that they could pass the tax exam and I would certainly be more than happy to have Stephen as a tutor in the future. Gerry is an absolute professional and goes above and beyond what is required by a lecturer. The little motivational snippets Gerry sends are great when times get hard and for me they helped keep my focus. PAT are all about students passing first time. I learnt a lot by following the programme and methods created by Stephen Fennell who is easily the best lecturer I have had.
He was very supportive. The scope of the Taxation syllabus was very broad and challenging, and I was especially worried about my overall speed and recall of the various taxation rules as demonstrated in class tests and mocks, but Stephen was very encouraging and supported me through the essential exam techniques and computation templates. On exam day, I stayed focused on getting as many marks on the questions I attempted, and although I felt discouraged not to have answered all questions, I was very pleased to make the 50 mark which speaks to the effectiveness of Stephens approach. Initially, I had very little confidence to overcome this challenging module. However, learning from Gerry had been such a positive experience. His class had always been both fun and extremely resourceful. I am confident that anybody who follows his lectures and notes seriously is sure to pass with excellent results.
Thank you Gerry and the PAT team for all your encouragement and support. The quality of the course just blew my mind. Gerry is a genius teacher, he can explain the most complicated subject in the way it all makes sense and is easy to retain in memory. He has his own unique teaching style which really works. He provides all the materials and study plan, you just need to follow it. Both Gerry and Derek provided support not only during regular classes, they went above and beyond, providing additional classes, mock exams and motivational messages and constant support in whatsapp group which really helped me to stay on track with my self-studying. At the beginning of the course I was terrified and doubted myself, but Gerry and Derek kept saying they believed in us and they wanted us to believe as well. Thanks to them I passed FR with no issues in the first sitting. I continue my course now preparing for Audit and Assurance with Terry Lawless and again the quality of teaching is outstanding.
It is also worth mentioning that the customer service in PAT is excellent. Gerry Fahy added extra classes, with no extra charge, all over the summer to get all the students ready for the September exam. The level of support, commitment, kindness I experienced with Gerry and the PAT Team is beyond anything you could ever expect from a College. Gerry is one of those incredible people that you feel honoured to have met in your life. Thank you so much Gerry for all your support, your help, your messages and for believing in me. Together WE did it! His study technique is very different but brilliant. He was by far the most motivational lecturer I ever had. I could not recommend Gerry and his Professional Accountancy Training colleagues highly enough to anybody who is looking to complete the ACCA qualification. I would also highlight their excellent online platform, which provides excellent tools to test your knowledge and in the meantime all the MOCKS to simulate the Computer Based Exam.
